Topics: I am interested in exploring the solid Earth, mostly from Earth materials perspective. In particular, I am interested in the volatiles and how they affect behavior of minerals and melts.

Structure of hydrous silicate melt

Methods: I use both experiments and simulations to study Earth materials under planetary conditions.

Background

I majored in Geology from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and received an MSc in Applied Geology from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India. Following that I joined Mineral Science Group at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge, UK for doctoral study. Since graduating I have done post-doctoral research at the Department of Geological Sciences,University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and also at the Department of Geology and Geophysics, Yale University, New Haven.

Present: Since April 2008, I am a visiting researcher at the Bayerisches Geoinstitut, Bayreuth, Germany.
